Addressing a packed audience inside Ratchadamnoen Boxing Stadium, Deric challenged conventional approaches to Chinese consumer engagement. His session, titled “PUNCH ABOVE THE MARKET: Don't just market to Chinese Audiences, start winning with them!” spotlighted why Chinese audiences in Southeast Asia—particularly Thailand—remain misunderstood, under-served, and strategically undervalued.
Drawing from real data, case studies, and years of market experience, Deric urged brands to move beyond transactional tourism marketing. Instead, he presented a new playbook for sustained engagement - one that blends cultural fluency, digital targeting precision, and storytelling that resonates with identity and intent.
“As travel rebounds and expat communities grow, brands need to stop treating Chinese consumers as seasonal visitors and start seeing them as enduring growth drivers,” Deric said. “It’s time we stop asking ‘What’s your China strategy?’ and start asking ‘Is your strategy Chinese-ready?’”
The keynote was part of a broader agenda led by IPG Mediabrands, focused on how Thai businesses can outperform market expectations through innovation, insight, and bold regional plays.
